Track and Field Posts Six Firsts at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams had another battle with weather delays but came away with six first-place finishes and 11 top-three finishes at Monmouth College, Tuesday, April 22. 

Illinois Wesleyan swept the men's 110m hurdles and women's 100m hurdles with senior Bobby Mogged (Piper City, Ill.-Tri-Point) taking the men's event in 16.12 seconds while freshman Kelsey Moore (Arcola, Ill.-Arcola) turned in a first-place finish on the women's side with a personal-best effort of 16.30 seconds. Freshman Keagan Uphoff (McLean, Ill.-Olympia) was runner-up on the men's side, just behind Mogged in 16.19 seconds.

Freshman Caroline Hill (Bement, Ill.-Bement) and senior Davion Lemon (Marrero, La.-Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy) went 1-2 in the women's 400m as Hill posted a time of 1:02.16, while Lemon came in at 1:05.98. In the men's 400m, sophomore Noah Sadowski (Burr Ridge, Ill.-Hinsdale South) clocked a personal-best time of 50.36 and finished third in the field.

Freshman Nick Walker (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora) turned in a third-place performance in the men's long jump with a 6.13m (20'1.50") leap.

Sophomore Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) and freshman Jacob Pinkston (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) turned in top-three finishes in the men's 800m with Dusek winning the event in 1:58.34 and Pinkston finishing third in 2:00.51. 

Senior Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Maroa-Forsyth) bested the women's hammer throw competition by two feet, as she threw a 51.27m (168'2") mark. Senior Matthew Wagner (Normal, Ill.-Central Catholic) won the men's shot put with a 13.92m (45'8"), over six inches further than the runner-up finisher.

Illinois Wesleyan sends a small group to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays Thursday-Saturday, April 24-26, while another larger group heads to Decatur, Ill. Friday, April 25 for the Millikin Friday Night Invite.
