TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Illinois Wesleyan University women's track and field senior Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) opened the weekend's competition in Terre Haute, Ind., sitting seventh through four events of the heptathlon at the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State University, Thursday, April 17. The heptathlon will finish out its final three events on Friday and will start at 10 a.m. ET with the long jump. Indiana State will run open events both Friday and Saturday, with Friday's field events starting at noon ET and running events at 6 p.m. ET.

Through four events of the heptathlon, Huber sits seventh in the 31-person field with 2865 points. Kenli Nettles of Division I Ball State leads the field with 3348 points.

Huber began the day by clocking a 16.69-second effort in the 100-meter hurdles. She then followed it up with a massive personal-best performance in the high jump, clearing 1.67m (5'5.75") to finish fifth in the field. Huber's high jump mark sits No. 3 all-time at Illinois Wesleyan, is the top mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's open high jump event, and ties for seventh nationally.

Continuing to impress in the shot put, Huber's first throw of the day topped the field and held strong through the rest of the competition. Her winning throw of 11.73m (38'6") is good for eighth-best in program history.

Huber finished the first day of the heptathlon with a 26.29-second effort in the 200m, where she finished 13th in the 31-person heptathlon field.

Huber will cap off the heptathlon event Friday, April 17, with the long jump, javelin, and 800m. The heptathlon will begin at 10 a.m. ET with open field events set for a noon start and track events at 6 p.m. ET.
