NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Following a record-breaking performance at last week's The Normal Invite, Illinois Wesleyan University women's track and field senior thrower Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Maroa-Forsyth) earned the first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Field Athlete of the Week award of her career. The league office announced its selections Wednesday, April 16.

King set a new school record in the women's weight throw with her winning mark of 53.94m (177'0") at The Normal Invite hosted by Illinois State University, Friday, April 11. King was the only non-Division I competitor in the event and topped the field by over 16 feet.

King's toss surpassed the previous school record by over a foot, a mark set in 2018 by Karly Goodman. The Decatur, Ill. native currently holds an eight-foot lead in the CCIW and is the sixth-best mark in Division III this season.

Illinois Wesleyan will send a group to Indiana State University for the Gibson Invitational Thursday-Saturday, April 17-19.
