BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – After inclement weather canceled last week's competition, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams are set to compete this weekend, April 11-12, at The Normal Invite hosted by Illinois State University. The hammer throw and the 200-meter 'B' sections will kick off the competition on Friday at 2 p.m. before a full slate of events on Saturday gets going at 10 a.m.

IWU will also send a handful of distance runners to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for the UW-Platteville Invitational, Friday, April 11. All five will race the 5,000m.

The Green and White are coming off a week-long hiatus due to forecasted weather last weekend that saw Wabash College cancel its Huntsman Family Invitational.

IWU has seen action in one outdoor meet this season when the team split their squads, sending a group of Titans to its neighbor, Illinois State University, for the Redbird Challenge while another group traveled to Millikin University for the Big Blue Alumni Invite, March 29. To open up the outdoor season, the Green and White compiled 38 top-5 finishes and 11 event wins across the two meets.

Additionally, six Titans turned in top-10 marks in program history, with sophomore Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) leading the way with two improved marks to sit fourth in the men's 400m (48.60) and fifth in the 200m (21.96) all-time. Senior CJ Ladewig (Palos Heights, Ill.-Stagg) moved into the No. 3 spot on IWU's all-time list in the men's hammer throw (53.85m, 176'8").

The Normal Invite will primarily take place on Saturday but will hold its men's and women's hammer throw competitions Friday at 2 p.m. at the Redbird Track and Field Complex. Field events on Saturday are set for a 10 a.m. start, with events on the track following at noon.
