GREENWOOD, Ind. - Three members of the Illinois Wesleyan University swimming and diving teams were honored for their academic success with College Sports Communicators Academic All-District distinction, announced by the organization Tuesday, April 1.Ā

Seniors Carter Dilger (Sellersburg, Ind.-Jeffersonville) and Alexa Starkey (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community), along with sophomore Sam Borre (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant), all received CSC Academic All-District accolades. For Dilger and Borre, this is their first time receiving this award, while it is Starkey's second time after garnering the honor last season.

Starkey, an elementary education major, boasted a 3.95 GPA during her time at IWU. The Normal, Ill. native competed in all freestyle events in the CCIW championships, placing fourth, sixth, and 12th in the 1650-yard free, 500-yard free, and the 200-yard free, respectively.Ā

Dilger is a biochemistry major who capped off his collegiate academic career with a 3.77 GPA. At the CCIW championship, Dilger competed in the 500-yard free, claiming eighth overall, placed fourth in the 100-yard fly, and nabbed second in the 200-yard fly. His second-place finish earned him an All-CCIW nod, since he placed in the top three in his event.Ā

As a nursing major, Borre has bolstered a 3.85 GPA while also competing in two seasons of swim and dive. Borre finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in the CCIW Championship, along with a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley.Ā

Academic All-America will come out on April 22 for the men and April 23 for the women.
