JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team finished up play at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational with its best round of the tournament Sunday, March 23. The Titans carded a seven-under 281 to finish sixth in the loaded 30-team field with a three-day tally of 864.

Wrapping up a tremendous weekend performance, senior Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) carded a two-under 70 to grab runner-up in the 150-player event. Pohl finished one stroke off medalist position, while turning in a career-low 54-hole total of 207. 

Junior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) tied for 22nd with a three-day score of 217, carding a final round 73. Junior Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) fired a career-low 66 to close out the tournament, tying Pohl's opening round score as the best by a Titan this weekend. Healy tied for 50th, while freshman Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) took home a share of 44th (72-78-71=221).

Junior Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) won the second tournament of his career, besting the 24-player field at the Jekyll Island Individual Tournament. Bai dominated from start to finish, earning medalist honors by a seven-stroke margin. He posted a final round 73 to secure a career-best 54-hole total of 213. 

No. 11 Huntingdon won the tournament with a three-day score of 855 (290-287-278), while No. 2 Washington & Lee took second (858). Fifth-ranked Emory claimed third with a score of 860. No. 1 Methodist and third-ranked Sewanee shared fourth-place at 863, just ahead of IWU's score of 864.

Illinois Wesleyan will enjoy a weekend off before returning to action as host of the IWU Invite Friday-Saturday, April 4-5. The two-day tournament will be played at Ironwood Golf Course as well as Weibring Golf Course.
