Lowder Advances to NCAA 400m Final

Ogunribido kicks off day two of NCAAs in the triple jump at 11 a.m. ET

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams had two competitors on the opening day of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at Nazareth University's Golisano Training Facility, Friday, March 14. Sophomore Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) notched the final spot in tomorrow's 400-meter final while Senior Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Maroa-Forsyth) placed 20th overall in the women's weight throw.

Lowder turned in a strong finish in the preliminary round of the 400m dash, clocking a 48.44 to sit eighth overall and snag the final spot in tomorrow's final. It is the second-fastest time the junior has run in the event this indoor season. 

King turned in a 20th-place finish in the women's weight throw with her best throw of the day being her first at 15.14m (49'8.25"). 

Illinois Wesleyan will be back at the Golisano Training Center tomorrow, Saturday, March 15 with sophomore Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) starting the day off in the women's triple jump at 11 a.m. ET followed by freshman Nick Walker (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora) in the men's high jump at noon ET and Lowder in the men's 400m finals at 4:25 p.m. ET.
