Lowder Named CCIW Track Athlete of the Week

Second weekly award for the junior this season

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University junior sprinter, Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) earned his second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Track Athlete of the Week honor this season after a record-setting performance in the 200-meter and a strong showing in the 400-meter at last weekend's GVSU Big Meet-Friday. The league office announced its selections, Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19.

Lowder earns the third weekly award of his career after setting a new indoor 200m all-conditions school record on GVSU's 300m track, Saturday, Feb. 15. Lowder is only the second Titan to break 22 seconds in the event indoors, joining the company of former school record holder Segun Olopo in 2008. Additionally, Lowder ran a season-best time in the 400m on Saturday, turning in a 48.76-second effort. The junior currently leads the conference in the 400m and ranks third in the 200m.

The Illinois Wesleyan track and field teams are back at home this Friday, Feb. 21 as the Titans host the Friday Night Meet in the Shirk Center.
