Track and Field Caps Off Two-Meet Weekend at Monmouth

Titans to host final home meet of the season Friday, Feb. 21

MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams closed out their weekend of competition at Monmouth University's Roger Haynes Invitational as a plethora of Titans recorded personal-best efforts Saturday, Feb. 15.

Sophomore Cole Marshall (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet Seymour) clocked the second-fastest time out of the preliminary round of the 60m dash in 7.09 seconds, a new personal-best for the sophomore and a mark that ties for seventh-best in program history.

Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) notched a personal-best in the women's 60m prelims of 8.42 and entered the finals with the third-fastest time in the event. The sophomore came back in the finals with another personal-best of 8.33 seconds to finish as runner-up in the event.

Three Titan men made it to the finals in the men's 60m hurdles with junior Bobby Mogged (Piper City, Ill.-Tri-Point) turning in a runner-up time of 8.73 seconds while freshmen Kamden Reynolds (Normal, Ill.-Normal Community) and Keagan Uphoff (McLean, Ill.-Olympia) finished in third (8.75) and fifth (8.92), respectively, as each recorded personal best efforts in the final.

Sophomore Luke Alberstett (Roscoe, Ill.-Hononegah) and freshman Caroline Hill (Bement, Ill.-Bement) each recorded personal-best times in the men's and women's 400m at 51.42 for Alberstett and 1:03.56 for Hill. Both finished as runner-up in their respective events. Also turning in runner-up finishes for the Titans were freshmen Kelsey Moore (Arcola, Ill.-Arcola) in the women's 60m hurdles (10.07) and Nick Walker (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora) in the men's long jump (6.32m, 20'9").

Rounding out the Green and White's top-three individual finishers was freshman Sarah Polley (Evanston, Ill.-Evanston) in the women's triple jump (9.52m, 31'2.75"). IWU's women's 4-by-200m relay (1:47.86) of seniors Jordynn Griffin (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Bella Gonzales (Itasca, Ill.-Lake Park), sophomore Olivia Skibinski (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods), and Hill finished second in a time of 1:47.86 and the men's 4-by-400m relay quartet (3:29.10) of Uphoff, Reynolds, Walker and Alberstett both turned in runner-up finishes.

Illinois Wesleyan will host its final home meet of the season, the Friday Night Meet, Feb. 21, inside the Shirk Center.
