PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling team went 1-2 at the Lakeland Duals Sunday, Nov. 9. After dropping its first two duals of the day, IWU rolled to a 41-8 victory over Lakeland University for the program's first dual win. The Titans dropped their first two matches of the day to Elmhurst University, 27-17, and then to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 30-14.
In the final dual of the day against Lakeland University, a 41-8 win for the Titans, IWU earned wins at 103, 110, 117, 124, 145, and 180-pound weight classes on forfeits. Freshman Jillian Giller (Wilmette, Ill.-New Trier) pinned Katerina Conrad in 91 seconds to take the win at 138 pounds. Fellow freshman
AJ Grant (Chicago, Ill.-Phoenix Stem Military Academy) needed just 43 seconds to dispatch Jalah Wilson with a pin, her second the day, at 160 pounds.
After dropping the first six bouts against EU, freshman Kennedy Murray (Evanston, Ill.-Evanston) put IWU on the board with an 11-0 technical fall over Grace Johnson at 145 pounds. Grant needed just 20 seconds to pin 160-pounder Lily Avalos. Sophomore
Sifa Feruzi (Denver, Colo.-Macomb) collected her first win of the year with a pin of Juliana Lefort in the 180-pound bout. Sophomore
Alivia Davey (Ripon, Wis.-Berlin) completed the run of four straight victories for the Green and White with a 9-0 decision over Isabel Peralta.
Murray earned her second win of the day with a 3-3 decision over UWSP's Brooke Schueneman. Freshman Angel Hill (San Diego, Calif.-Mira Mesa) added her name to the winner's list via a 5-0 decision over Kate Reige at 207 pounds.
The Titans are back in action Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Lindenwood Duals.
