EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling team had six wrestlers place at the Eight Woman Battles hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Saturday, Nov 22.
At 207 pounds, freshman Angel Hill (San Diego, Calif. - Mira Mesa) earned runner-up honors. She won her opening match over Savannah Sistad of Simpson with a 12-5 decision. In the second round, She pinned Niyasa McCampbell of Lakeland in 5:35. She followed with a pin in 1:35 of Lakeland's Aubrey Miller-Ramirez in the semifinals before dropping the championship.
In the 138-pound weight class, freshman Jillian Giller (Wilmette, Ill. - New Trier) finished in fourth place. She won her first three matches all via falls before dropping her final two bouts.
Sophomore Alivia Davey (Ripon, Wis. - Berlin) placed for the second straight year in the event, finishing fifth at 207 pounds. Fellow 207 pounder
Morgan Congo (Morris, Ill. - Morris Community) closed with a seventh-place finish. Freshman
Jessica Stover (Plainfield, Ill. - Oswego East) placed sixth at 180 pounds in her IWU debut. At 145 pounds freshman
Kennedy Murray (Evanston, Ill. - Evanston) notched a fifth-place effort.Â
The Titans are back in action Tuesday, Dec. 2, against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Augustana. Action from Rock Island is scheduled for 4 p.m.Â
