Women’s Tennis Falls to Augustana

Titans turn around quickly, will face North Park Saturday morning

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Opening the rigorous College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin slate, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team fell to Augustana College, 7-0, Friday, Sept. 13. The Titans fall to 2-1 overall, and 0-1 in CCIW action, while Augie improves to 1-1 with a 1-1 mark in conference play.

Opening the match in doubles action, sophomores Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) notched the win in the top paired spot, winning with a score of 6-4. The Vikings took the other two doubles spots to claim the first point of the contest.

At No. 1 singles, Ehrlich battled to the end, but fell in the tiebreaker. After dropping the first set, 6-1, the sophomore came back to win the second, 6-2, before being edged out, 10-7, in the tiebreaker.

Illinois Wesleyan has a quick turnaround, as the Titans host North Park University Saturday morning, Sept. 14. NPU (3-0, 2-0 CCIW) comes to town after picking up a win at Millikin University. Action is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. at Evergreen Racquet Club.
