ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships Friday-Saturday, May 3-4, as the men's squad turned in 125 points for third place and the women's 71 points was good for fifth. Freshmen Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park.-Lake Park) and Adam Beasley (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington), and sophomore Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) earned CCIW specialty awards.

North Central won the meet on both sides as the men picked up 167 points and the women scored 203.5.

Ogunribido and Beasley were named the CCIW Newcomers of the Year while Lowder was named the CCIW Male Track Student-Athlete of the Year. Senior Josh Tong (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North) and freshman Carly Edwards (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) were named IWU's CCIW RESPECT award winners.

Ogunribido garnered the award after an outstanding performance in the women's triple jump as her winning jump of 12.30-meter (40'4.25") broke the CCIW meet record previously held by IWU's Chinny Ekwulugo back in 2009. Ogunribido also ran on the fourth-place 4-by-100-meter relay team (48.34) with freshmen Katarina Petrovic (Willowbrook, Ill.-Hinsdale South), Olivia Skibinski (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods), and senior Avery Smith (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North), and finished ninth in the 100m dash (12.57).

Beasley earns the male newcomer of the year award after sweeping titles in the long jump and high jump. The freshman tied the meet record in the long jump on Friday before clearing 2.00m (6'6.75") to win the high jump on Saturday.

Lowder ran away with the triple crown in the 200m, 400m, and the 4-by-100m relay as the anchor. The sophomore turned in a personal best effort of 21.33 in the 200m after his 47.67-second effort in the 400m. Lowder teamed up with freshman Tyrice Bender and sophomores Jahari Scott (Lake Bluff, Ill.-Lake Forest) and Joe Freedman (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) to win the 4-by-100m (42.15).

Freshman Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) turned in a runner-up finish in the men's 400m (48.92) before having to compete in the 100m dash finals just 20 minutes later where he finished ninth (11.87). Sophomore Joel Weber (Roanoke, Ill.-Roanoke-Benson) also ran the 400m finals finishing fifth in 50.40 seconds. Dusek and Weber joined Bender and junior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) for the final event on the track, finishing fourth in the 4-by-400m (3:19.99). Harvey turned in a personal-best effort of 55.11 seconds in the 400m hurdles to finish third overall, three spots better than his seed mark. The Galesburg, Ill. native also finished sixth in the 110m hurdles (15.51) while freshman Matthew Hyland (Burbank, Ill.-Saint Laurence) finished right alongside him in seventh (15.65).

Scott was one of two Titans to score in the men's 100m dash as he came in fourth with a personal-best effort of 10.89 seconds and sophomore Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) finished eighth in 11.24 seconds.
