PEORIA, Ill. -
The fifth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf claimed the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship for the 12th straight season and 25th time overall Saturday, May 4, at WeaverRidge Golf Course in Peoria, Ill. The Titans fired a final round five-under par, 283 on the par-72, 7030-yard course to conclude the three-day tournament with a 17-under 847 as they topped the field by 48 strokes.

Fifth-year Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) won the individual title, becoming the 18th Titan to earn medalist honors at the conference championship. Additionally, it is the third straight year IWU has seen a student-athlete take home the title with Jimmy Morton doing so in 2022 and Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) doing so last year. With his performance, Beaubien was also tabbed the conference's Golfer of the Year.

Overall, Illinois Wesleyan swept the top-five spots on the 45-player leaderboard. Behind Beaubien, sophomore Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) took second with a 54-hole total of 212 as he carded a two-under 70 in the final round. Junior Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) posted a 71 to bring his total to 214 as he finished third. Sophomore Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) placed fourth (216), while Clifford grabbed fifth at 217 to complete the sweep.

The Titans led from start to finish behind rounds of 285, 279, and 283 to post a three-day score of 17-under, 847. IWU's score is the lowest in conference tournament history for a 54-hole event. Carthage held on for second (297-294-304=895), with Augustana (306-300-294=900) rounding out the top-three.

Additionally, the Titans saw Bai and Clifford take home the Elite 26 Award, presented to the all-conference performer with the highest grade point average. Raj Sethi was named IWU's recipient of the CCIW RESPECT Award, while Jim Ott garnered CCIW Coach of the Year honors for the 11th time in his career.

Illinois Wesleyan looks ahead to the NCAA Division III Championship, set to take place May 14-17 in Las Vegas.
