USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams picked up nine United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honors as six Titans earned the distinction. The organization announced the honorees Friday afternoon, May 17.

In order to be eligible for the award, individuals must rank in their region's top-five in an event or be a part of a top-three ranked relay team.

Sophomore Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) earns All-Region distinction in a trio of events as he owns the region's top mark in the 400-meter dash and is ranked in the 200m and the 4-by-400m relay. Lowder's 47.14 second 400m time also ranks 13th nationally while his 21.33-second effort in the 200m ranks 35th.

Also earning All-Region honors in the men's 4-by-400m relay, all for the first time in their careers, are freshmen Tyrice Bender and Reece Dusek (Peoria, Ill.-Dunlap) and junior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg). The relay squad ranks 25th nationally with a 3:13.47 effort.

Freshman Adam Beasley (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) garnered a pair of All-Region nods in the men's high jump and long jump. Beasley owns the region's top mark in the long jump of 7.44 meters (24'5"), a mark that broke the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship meet record as well as Illinois Wesleyan's school record. Beasley's 2.01m (6'7") clearance in the high jump also ranked among the region's top-five.

Freshman Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) picked up All-Region honors in the women's triple jump after a 12.30m (40'4.25") leap led her to a CCIW Championship title and set a new meet record that had stood since 2009.

As a conference, the CCIW boasts 51 All-Region nods while 39 of those are in the Midwest region and 12 are in the North. Lowder and Carthage College's Joseph White are the only two CCIW athletes to earn All-Region honors in three events.

IWU is set to compete at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships next Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25.
