GREENWOOD, Ind. - For the second time in his career, Illinois Wesleyan University men's swimming and diving senior Ethan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-America selection. Lowder was named to the Second Team as CSC released the list of honorees Tuesday, April 23.

Lowder is the second men's swimming and diving member to receive Academic All-America status, as he is joined by Chris Morton, who was named to the third team in 1993. Lowder becomes the only one in program history to earn the distinction in back-to-back years after being named to the third team in 2023. Additionally, his selection boosts IWU's all-time Academic All-America total to 152. Lowder joins women's basketball's Lauren Huber to earn the prestigious honor this academic year.

Lowder secured a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship with a time of 20.95 seconds, and placed third in the 100-yard freestyle clocking a time of 46.54 seconds.

The Bloomington, Ill. native helped propel the 200-yard medley relay team to a new school record as the leadoff swimmer. The relay squad finished with a time of 1:33.94, while Lowder clocked a split time of 24.09 seconds in the 50 yard backstroke leg.

Lowder has maintained a 4.00 grade point average as a physics major. He is a three-time recipient of the CCIW Elite 26 award, which is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and recognizes the all-conference student-athlete with the highest GPA among those competing at the conference championship.
