Lowder Named CCIW Track Athlete of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – For the first time in the outdoor season, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's track and field team reeled in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Athlete of the Week honors as sophomore Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) was this week's track selection, the league announced Wednesday afternoon, April 10.

The honor marks the first of Lowder's young career and comes after the sophomore clocked an impressive 47.14-second effort in the 400-meter dash at the Huntsman Family Track and Field Invitational last Saturday, April 6. Lowder's time is the second fastest by any Titan all-time behind school record holder Matt Harden's 47.02 seconds set back in 2007.

Lowder sits third in Division III this season and leads the conference by almost a second. He also holds the second-fastest time in the 200-meter dash with a 22.22-second effort.

Track and field is set to travel to Greenville, Ill. Saturday, April 13 for the Greenville Select. Field events are set for 10:30 a.m. while events on the track will kick off at 11 a.m.
