Women’s Lacrosse Travels to Lake Forest

Titans face Foresters at 4:30 p.m.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Continuing its stretch of road games, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team travels to Lake Forest College for a non-conference contest Wednesday, April 3. Action is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Farwell Field. 

Entering off a 17-11 loss to University of Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday, March 30, the Titans look to improve their 5-4 record before cracking open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action. The loss saw senior Britney Maldonado (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant) lead the Green and White with five points on three goals and two assists, while junior Bri Kiser (Crown Point, Ind.-Crown Point) tied her career-high with 15 saves. 

Amid a stellar senior campaign, Maldonado ranks second nationally in assists (44) and assists per game (4.89), while her 8.11 points per game average is the third-highest in the country, and she ranks sixth in points with 73. Entering Wednesday, Maldonado is five assists shy of tying the single-season program record. Junior Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) leads the Titans with 31 goals, while her 34 points sit second on the squad. Sophomores Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West) and Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) closely follow with 26 and 25 points, respectively. 

At the draw, Hanson holds a team-high 50 draw controls on the season, followed by Fiandaca's 33, and sophomore Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) with 32. Hanson and Kiser have each scooped up a team-best 29 ground balls, while sophomore Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis) is third with 22. 

Leading a Titan defense that ranks first nationally in caused turnovers per game, averaging 17.33 per contest, Fiandaca has caused a team-high 29 opponent miscues on the season. Her average of 4.14 caused turnovers per game ranks seventh in the nation. Hanson and Newton have 26 and 18 to rank second and third on the team, respectively. 

Kiser has logged all 540:00 minutes between the iron to post a 5-4 record. In that time, the junior has stopped 87 shots, the most by a goalie in the CCIW, on a .403 save percentage. 

Illinois Wesleyan and Lake Forest will meet for the first time in program history Wednesday. The Foresters enter the contest off a 18-10 victory over Cornell College Saturday, March 30, to improve to 8-2 on the season.
