CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. –
For the first time in program history, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's track and field team swept the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin weekly awards as junior
Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) earned Track Athlete of the Week while sophomore Ethan Godsey (Manteno, Ill.-Manteno) was the field honoree. The CCIW announced the selections Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 11.

Lowder earns the second CCIW weekly award of his career after lowering his own school record time in the 300-meter to 34.60 seconds at the Titan First Chance, Saturday, Dec. 7. Lowder's time is the ninth-fastest in the event all-time for Division III.

Running the nontraditional 300m just once at the start of each season, Lowder became the school record holder at last year's Titan First Chance meet as a sophomore with a 34.99-second run before bettering his record on Saturday. Lowder also raced on the winning 4-by-400m relay over the weekend.

Godsey put on an impressive show at the Titan First Chance on Saturday, turning in nearly a full-meter personal-best jump of 14.30m (46'11") in the triple jump on his final leap of the day. The sophomore's mark was over a foot further than the next closest competitor in the field. Godsey moved from tenth in the program's all-time list up to No. 2 in program history. The top mark in the CCIW this season, Godsey also ranks third in the nation for Division III.

The Illinois Wesleyan men's track and field team is set to compete again in the new year when the Titans host the I-55 Invite, Jan. 18.
