BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - After a comeback game against Carthage College during homecoming weekend, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team is on the road to play College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe Wheaton College, Wednesday, Oct. 9. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Joe Bean Stadium.

The Titans are going into Wednesday's game with a 7-0-2 record, and are 1-0 in league play. The Thunder have seen a 6-4-1 season thus far, with a 2-0 record in conference action. Wheaton most recently played North Park University and finished the game with a 1-nil victory against the Vikings.

IWU played Carthage this past Saturday, Oct. 5 in a crazy comeback story in favor of the Titans. At the half, the Green and White were down 1-nil and Carthage saw two more goals early in the second half to extend its lead 3-0. IWU was able to bounce back and score four goals within 20 minutes of the second half putting the Titans up one with 15 minutes to play. The Firebirds were able to score the equalizer with 11 minutes to spare but senior Mush Bakridan (Morton, Ill.-Morton) scored with six minutes left on a free kick to give the Titans their first CCIW victory, taking the game 5-4.

Bakirdan was named CCIW Offensive Player of the Week this Tuesday, Oct. 8 after his stellar performance against Carthage.

The Thunder take an overall series record of 32-5-1 into Wednesday's contest against the Titans. The most recent game between the IWU and WC was the lone tie in the series, occurring in the CCIW tournament semifinals. Wheaton and Illinois Wesleyan finished the game in PKs, and IWU took a victory over the Thunder to move onto the CCIW tournament finals. Then-freshman Matthew Perchik (Glenview, Ill.-New Trier) was able to score the first goal of the game only two minutes into the match. Davis Quarles scored the deciding factor in PKs while Sam Kedzior's (Cary, Ill.-Cary Grove) save against Wheaton's goalie extended the Titans' season to the CCIW Tournament finals.
