KANSAS CITY, Mo.- A trio of Titans from the Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer team were selected to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-North/Central Region Team, announced by the office Thursday, Dec. 17. Senior Jerry Smazil (Downers Grove, Ill.-Downers Grove South) earned second team accolades, while fellow senior Kalabi Kamau (Alpharetta, Ga.-Marist School) and junior Ryder Coleman (Bannockburn, Ill.-Deerfield) captured their spots on the third team. The Titans' three selections are the most in program history.

Smazil co-captained the Titans to the most wins in program history with 13, assisting on one goal to capture his lone point of the campaign. A Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection, Smazil started 16 matches, directing the offense and defense through the midfield for the Green and White. The finance major capped off the fall semester with a 3.85 grade point average.

The Green and White saw its first 20-point getter since 2022, as Coleman finished the year with seven goals and six assists. The finance major earned a spot on the third team, sporting a 3.67 GPA on his way to being the Titans' leading scorer. Coleman was also honored as a United States Coaches All-Region honoree along with a First Team All-CCIW selection for the first time in his career.

As a defenseman, Kamau joined Coleman on the third team concluding the season with three helpers. The business administration major accumulated a 3.80 GPA, while starting all 20 games for Illinois Wesleyan. Kamau logged all three of his assists in CCIW play with two of them delivered off free kicks against Augustana College. The Alpharetta, Ga. native also assisted the game-winning goal on the road at Carthage College.

The Titans will lose both Smazil and Kamau to graduation, while Coleman is set to return for his senior season. Illinois Wesleyan set a program-best 13 wins and a CCIW Tournament Championship to go along with its second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament.
