Josh Miller Named New Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

Miller bring nine years of experience to the program

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Illinois Wesleyan University men's soccer head coach Kyle Schauls announced the hiring of Josh Miller as the program's next assistant coach. He began his duties earlier this month.

Miller brings nine years of coaching experience to Illinois Wesleyan, first getting his start with the New York Red Bulls Youth programs. During his time with RBNY, Miller received his coaching license through the United States Soccer Federation where he obtained a B license. He brings experience with him to Bloomington, as prior to Illinois Wesleyan, he was an assistant coach at NAIA Walla Walla University. 


"The first thing that stood out about Josh in the interview process was his professionalism," Schauls said. "He takes his role as a coach and mentor very seriously. His methodology will help him transition seamlessly into our team's style of play."

During his time in Washington, he earned a master's degree from Grand Canyon University. Miller made his way back to the East Coast to be the head coach at Notre Dame High School in Elmira, New York. After his stint as a high school coach, Miller gained more experience as an assistant through Delaware FC. Most recently, Miller was on staff at Binghamton University as Director of Performance Analysis in 2025. 

Miller, a dual citizen, was born in Bad Windsheim, Germany and graduated high school from Athens Area in Athens, Penn.. He obtained his undergraduate degree in sport and recreation management at the University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg.
