Men’s Golf Atop Leaderboard With One Round to Play at Wabash Invitational

Healy leads 84-player leaderboard

INDIANAPOLIS - The fifth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team used a strong opening round to seize control at the Wabash Fall Invitational Monday, Oct. 7. The Titans carded an opening round six-under 282 before turning in a one-under 287 to finish the day with a total of 569 on the par-72, 6904-yard Broadmoor Country Club. Illinois Wesleyan's 'B' team is in second with a score of 588.

A total of seven Titans are in the top-16 of the 84-player field through 36 holes. Junior Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) leads the field with a 139 after carding back-to-back below par rounds. Healy carded a two-under 70 to start the day, before going three-under in round two.

Senior Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) fired the best round of the tournament, carding an opening round six-under 66. He sits second, one shot off Healy's lead, at 140. Freshman Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) holds a share of third after rounds of 73 and 70, while seniors Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) and Raj Sethi (Chandler, Ariz.-Arizona College Prep) are tied for sixth at 146.

Junior Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) is tied for 11th with a 36-hole total of 147. Freshman Michael O'Keefe (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) and senior Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) are 15th and tied for 16th, respectively.

The Titans lead the 15-team standings at seven-under 569, with the IWU 'B' team second at 588. Hope is third with a score of 595, while Rhodes (599) and DePauw (600) round out the top-five.

Final round action is scheduled for tomorrow, Oct. 8. Live scoring will be available via Clippd.
