Ehrlich Earns Second Team All-CCIW Honors

Sophomore receives award for second straight season

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - For the second straight season, sophomore Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team was named to the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Second Team, announced by the league Tuesday, Oct. 22. She is the first Titan to earn All-CCIW honors in back-to-back years since 2018.

Commanding the No. 1 singles spot, along with being a part of the top doubles pair, Ehrlich collected a total of five wins in CCIW action. In individual play, Ehrlich picked up wins over North Park's Hanna Zethraeus, Emily Markus of Millikin, and Elmhurst's Anna Sophia Stone. She finished with a record of 3-4 in singles play.

Playing every match in the top doubles spot, primarily alongside fellow sophomore Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington), the pair defeated Augustana's Hannah Colbert and Colleen Larry, and Sasha Manojlovic and Giovanna Mendes from Carthage. Ehrlich added a CCIW doubles win alongside freshman Katie Van Heuklon (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) defeated Elmhurst's Chloe Webb and Stone.

She is the first player to receive multiple all-conference honors since Lauren Neitzel was named First Team All-CCIW in 2016-17 and 2017-18. It marks the second women's tennis all-conference recipient for head coach Jason Van Heuklon, who is in his third year leading the program.

Senior Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) was IWU's recipient of the CCIW RESPECT award. She receives the accolade for the third straight season.

Ehrlich, Christian, and the Titans will enjoy the offseason before returning to action in the New Year. The Titans finished seventh in the CCIW, qualifying for the conference tournament for the second straight season.
