SANDESTIN, Fla. - The fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team closed out its fall schedule with a top-10 finish at the Golfweek October Classic Tuesday, Oct. 15. IWU carded a final round score of 285 to post a 54-hole total of 852 on the par-71, 6623-yard Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Resort and Golf Club. 

Senior Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) tied for 16th as IWU's top finisher. He finished the tournament with a three-day score of 211, carding a one-under 71 in the final round.

Senior Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) and junior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) tied for 28th. Pohl posted IWU's best round of the day, a two-under 69, to conclude the tournament at 213. Spitzer went one-over Tuesday to finish level with Pohl.

Washington & Lee rolled to the team title, finishing the event 30-under par to top the 24-team field with a score of 822. Sewanee, which posted a 23-under 829, placed second. LeTourneau took third at 846, narrowly edging out Methodist and Lynchburg who tied for fourth at 847. W&L's Jonathan McEwen and Elias Malakoff tied for first individually with 54-hole totals of 202.

The tournament marked the final event of the fall portion of the schedule for the Titans. Illinois Wesleyan will return to action in the spring, with the Green nad White's remaining slate set to be released in the coming months.
