SANDESTIN, Fla. - Seniors Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) and Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) paced the fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team as it opened up play at the Golfweek October Classic in Sandestin, Fla. Sunday, Oct. 13. The Titans carded a first round score of 280 on the par-71, 6623-yard Raven Golf Club and sit in fourth-place among the 24-team field.

Clifford fired a four-under 67 to lead the Titans on day one of the highly competitive tournament. He holds a share of third-place and is one stroke off the lead held by Sewanee's Colin Edwards and Methodist's Chase Walts. 

Pohl also sits inside the top-20 after carding a two-under 69. The Western Springs, Ill. native is tied for 17th.

Twenty-first ranked Sewanee leads the 24-team field after posting an opening round score of 272. No. 6 Washington & Lee is second at 274, while fifth-ranked Oglethorpe rounds out the top-three with a score of 277. Illinois Wesleyan is fourth (280) with No. 25 Rochester (281) and seventh-ranked Huntingdon (281) tied for fifth.

Play continues tomorrow, Oct. 14, with the Titans scheduled to tee off beginning at _ a.m. ET. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat, while results will be posted to iwusports.com following the conclusion of the round.
