NAPERVILLE, Ill. & JOLIET, Ill. - Fighting for a spot in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, a select few Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field student-athletes competed in last chance meets, May 11-13. The student-athletes either competed at North Central College or the University of St. Francis.

On the women's side, junior Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) highlighted the last chance meets with her triple jump mark of 11.98 meters as she claimed third in the event at St. Francis. With her personal-best mark, she now sits second in the IWU all-time top-10 record book. This now puts Wong in 14th-place in all of Division III, with the top-22 heading to nationals in New York, May 26-28.

Freshman Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) welcomed a personal-best time of 10:59.19 in the 3000 meter steeplechase at St. Francis. Crabtree now ranks third in the all-time IWU top-10 record book and sits 25th in all of Division III. The Normal, Ill. native is just three seconds off from being inside of the top-22. Additionally, Crabtree set another personal-best in the 10000 meter as she crossed the finish line with a time of 37:21.50. With her mark, Crabtree now ranks seventh all-time in IWU history.

Thursday's action saw the pole vaulting duo of senior Christian Gatsos (Brookfield, Ill.-Lyons Township) and freshman Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) tackled the field at NCC. Needing a mark of at least 4.80 meters to be inside of the NCAA top-22, Whitaker placed 10th with a vault of 4.55 meters, while Gatsos cleared the 4.40 meter bar, which earned him 14th.

Sophomore Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) turned in a time of 1:53.11 in the 800 meter, Friday at North Central. Waterson finished fourth in the event, but fell just short of the 1:51.07 mark that he needed to sneak into the top-22.

The Titans will continue with another week of last chance meets, May 17-18. Once the times and locations are known, updates will be made to iwusports.com.
