Men's Golf Shows Improvement on Day Two at Jekyll Island Collegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -
The seventh-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team climbed three spots on the leaderboard on day two of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Saturday, March 18. Competing on the par-72, 6700 yard Pine Lakes Course as Jekyll Island Golf Club IWU carded a 298 to move into 22nd.


Senior Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) led the Titans for the second straight day with a 74, finishing two-over, to sit tied for 63rd. Freshman Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) carded a 75, while sophomore Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) fired a one-over 73 for the best round of a Titan on the weekend. Bai and Pohl are tied for 88th.

No. 3 Emory maintained its lead atop the team standings with a 275 (283=558), followed by No. 5 Carnegie Mellon at 567. Christopher Newport surged into third with a seven-under 281 to push its two-day score to 573. CNU's Alex Price holds the medalist lead ahead of a trio from Emory, as Price clings to a four-stroke advantage at 10-under 134.

In the individual tournament, freshman Jackson Hulsey (St. Charles, Ill.) moved into first with a one-over 73 on the par-72, 6651-yard Oleander course. Hulsey, who holds a 36-hole total of 147, holds a one-stroke lead ahead of the final round.
