Box Score
LEXINGTON, Ky. - In the first of three matches over spring break, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-7 loss at the hands of Transylvania University Saturday, March 11. Despite the loss, sophomore Lizzie Rymarcsuk (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Saint Viator) racked up a career-high 21 saves in goal, the second-most in program history.

Junior Britney Maldonado (Hoffman Estates, Ill.-James B. Conant) led the Titan (2-4) offense with three points, as she notched the first goal of the match and assisted on two others. Sophomore Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) and freshmen Devon Hanson (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha West) and Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) each recorded two goals.

Defensively, senior Kelly Carlson (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) led the Green and White with four ground balls. Fountain, senior Sarah Gleason (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South), and freshman Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis) each scooped up three. Fiandaca recorded a team-high two caused turnovers, while six other Titans each forced one.

Rymarcsuk continued to lead the IWU goalkeepers, as she logged all 60 mini in the match, en route to making a career-best 21 saves in the contest. The 21 saves is the second most in a game in program history, and one stop shy of the record set by Claire Quist March 26, 2016.

Maldonado put the Titans on the board first, as she capitalized on a free position shot to give the visitors a 1-0 lead with 8:27 to play in the first period. After Transy answered to even the score at 1-1, Maldonado found Fiandaca to put the Titans back out in front, 2-1, at the 2:33 mark. The pioneers struck less than a minute later to bring the first period to an end, 2-2.

Despite IWU's best efforts, the Pioneers used a 5-1 second period to push ahead 7-3 at the half, and never lost control, winning the battle 14-7.

The Titans hit the road to Virginia for two matches, with the first contest on Tuesday, March 14, against the University of Lynchburg. Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. ET. The match will not be live streamed, but live stats can be found here
