Before the meet, the IWU track program recognized its 2023 senior class. Twelve student-athletes were celebrated for their hard work and dedication to Illinois Wesleyan track and field.

In the continuation of the heptathlon, senior Davis Nguy (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) crossed the finish line just .01 seconds clear of the next competitor to earn first in the 60 meter hurdles (9.30). Nguy notched second in the pole vault (3.65 meters) as well as the 1000 meter race (3:01.07).

Out of the five-man heptathlon field, Nguy took second (4230 points), freshman Ashtin Elder (Chenoa, Ill.-Prairie Central) earned fourth (3051 points), while junior Joshua Klein (Glen Carbon, Ill.-Edwardsville) notched fifth (2900 points).
