BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams combined for 12 event victories as host of the Friday Night Tri, Feb. 17. Millikin University and Heartland Community College round out the field of competition.

In a final tuneup ahead of next week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Championship, the Titans produced 40 season-best times. Freshmen Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) and Zack Daniel (Lake Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) etched their names among IWU's top-10 all-time. Lowder won the 400 meter with a time of 50.46, which was not only good for a personal-best, but also marks the sixth-fastest time in program history. Lowder's mark is the fastest by a Titan since 2011. Daniel's highlight came in the 3k race, as the freshman crossed the finish line in 8:49.98 to place second. A season-best, Daniel now ranks sixth all-time on IWU's top-10 list for the event.

On the women's side, Avery Smith (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North), Davion Lemon (Marrero, La.-Patrick F. Taylor), Jordynn Griffin (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Marissa Hagler (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal West), Evelyn Wilson (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo), and Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) picked up individual wins. Freshman Bobby Mogged (Piper City, Ill.-Tri-Point), sophomore Eddie Saunders (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame), Lowder, senior Drew Tatlock (North Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community), and senior Christian Gastos (Brookfield, Ill.-Lyons Township) racked up wins for the men's team.

Smith won the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.15, while Hagler claimed the top spot in the 60 meter hurdles (9.90). Lemon clocked in with a time of 26.61 to win the 200 meter, and Griffin used a season-best time of 1:00.96 to win the 400 meter run. Wilson cleared 1.53 meters to best the field in the high jump and Wong added a victory in triple jump with a mark of 11.14 meters.

In the men's 60 meter hurdles, Mogged won the event with a time of 8.69. Saunders picked up a win in the 200 meter race behind a season-best time, and Tatlock cleared 1.85 meters to win high jump. Gatsos' great season continued with another win, as he cleared 4.45 meters en route to a pole vault win.

The Green and White will host the highly anticipated College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Track and Field Championships, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 24-25 for the team's next action.
