McNees & Noguez Earn CCIW Player of the Week Honors

McNees earns second award of season, first for Noguez

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Juniors Zach McNees (Hillsboro, Mo.-Hillsboro) and Matthew Noguez (Berwyn, Ill.-Morton) were selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Players of the Week Monday, Nov. 13, as the league office announced its final weekly awards of the season. McNees garnered CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, while Noguez grabbed the first weekly award of his career.

McNees closed out his season with a dominant effort against Elmhurst, Nov. 11. McNees registered eight tackles, three of which were sacks for a total loss of 15 yards. His strong season finale also included a quarterback hurry and a blocked kick. McNees wrapped up the 2023 regular season with 20.5 tackles for loss, the fifth-most in all of Division III.

Noguez capped off his first season as the Titans' punter with a strong performance, Nov. 11. Noguez punted five times for 195 yards, pinning the Bluejays within their own 20-yard line three times. He also recorded a game-long punt of 50 yards, his second 50+ yard boot of the season.

In all, IWU finishes the season with five CCIW Player of the Week selections. The Titans had three Special Teams Players of the Week in Noguez, Seth Ablin, and Jahari Scott, while McNees was the league's defensive pick twice this season.
