CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -
Freshman Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week, announced by the league Wednesday, Oct. 11. She marks the first Titan to receive the award since Lauren Neitzel earned the honor Sept. 28, 2016, and the first to pick up the accolade under head coach Jason Van Heuklon, who took over prior to the 2022-23 season.

Ehrlich posted a dominant week for Illinois Wesleyan. The freshman completed a perfect 4-0 week at No. 1 singles, as she picked up wins over Monmouth, and CCIW foes Elmhurst, Carthage, and Carroll. In paired action, Ehrlich finished with a 2-2 record at the No. 1 doubles spot. With the wins, Ehrlich extends her win streak in singles action to five. Against Monmouth Tuesday, Oct. 3, Ehrlich took both sets, 6-2, and added a win at No. 1 doubles, with a score of 8-3, alongside fellow freshman Olivia Bell, helping guide the Titans to a win.

Facing Elmhurst less than 24 hours later, Ehrlich stayed hot, picking up the singles win in two sets, 6-1, 6-4. She and Bell once again claimed victory in paired play, winning with a score of 8-3, as the Titans took down Elmhurst to earn a CCIW victory. Against Carthage Saturday, Oct. 6, Ehrlich took both sets, 6-1. The freshman closed out her phenomenal week against Carroll Sunday, Oct. 8, as she dominated in singles play, winning with set scores 6-0, 6-2.

Ehrlich and the Titans return to the courts Friday, Oct. 13, as they host Wheaton College for the fall season finale. Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the event.
