CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team competed in the second day of the Wabash College Hidden Gems Invitational today, Sept. 18. The Titans saw three different wins at singles, along with four different wins at doubles.
Freshman Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) continued to impress for the Green and White, picking up his third win of the weekend at No. 1 singles when he started the day with a win over Augusto Ghidini from Wabash, 7-6 (11-0), 0-6, and 8-7.
Playing at No. 3 singles, junior Ryan McCoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Rolling Meadows) defeated Wabash's Eduardo Werneck 6-2, 1-6, 10-6. Rounding out the singles match for IWU was freshman
Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter Academy), who picked up a win at No. 4 singles when he took down Ethan Koeneman from Wabash 6-4, 4-6, 10-5, giving him his third solo win of the weekend.
The Titans opened doubles play against Earlham College, winning all three matches. Senior Carter Burk (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U) and McCoy paired up as the No. 1 duo, defeating Sarthak Sharma and Huyneseong Ahn, 8-3.

Zeke Cross (Springfield, Ill.-Springfield) rounded out the first doubles match with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Leonardo Leao and Robert Lemon.

Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora Township) were the only Titan pair to defeat Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's duo, picking up an 8-2 win at No. 4 doubles over Ryan Burch and Cameron Watson.
Illinois Wesleyan rounds out its fall season at the ITA Regional Tournament, taking place in St. Louis, Mo. over Sept. 23-25.
