Vigneri Earns CCIW Player of the Week

Second weekly honor for Vigneri this season

NAPERVILLE, Ill.- Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis senior Ben Vigneri (Casper, Wyo.-Phillips Exeter) earned his second career College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week award Tuesday, April 28, announced by the league office. 

The award is the third CCIW Player of the Week honor for the Titans this season. Vigneri joins fellow senior Ian Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington), who claimed the award Feb. 23. Vigneri also won the award, March 10 and is the first IWU player since Turnbull in 2024 to earn two CCIW player of the week awards in the same season. 

Vigneri ended his season on a high note, collecting three singles wins and two doubles victories at the top spot. He began his week with a two-win match against Elmhurst, Monday, April 20,  winning 6-0 at No. 1 doubles alongside senior Griffin Hammond (Metamora, Ill.-Metamora) over Santiago Hurtado and Adrian Songco. In singles, Vigneri took down Hurtado, 6-0, 6-1. 

The next day April 21 at Millikin University, the Casper, Wyo. product picked up his second singles triumph, this time in three sets against Gillian Nahum 6-2, 6-7 (1), 10-7. He wrapped up his career by securing a pair of wins over Wheaton College, Saturday, April 25. In doubles, he and Turnbull beat Andrew Winters and Andrew Jang, 6-4. In singles, Vigneri took down Corin Tang, 6-4, 6-4.  

Vigneri and the Titans wrapped up their season, Saturday, April 25. They graduate five players and are expected to return four student-athletes in the fall.
