Slated for three matches in two days

9/1/2022 2:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Coming off an outright regular season and tournament conference championship run last year, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball will open its 2022 season on the road. The Titans will compete in the Charlie Wrublewski Invitational, hosted by Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio Friday-Saturday, September 2-3.

The Titans open the tournament against Wittenberg at 6 p.m. ET Friday evening, Sept. 2. On the second day of the tournament, Illinois Wesleyan will face Mount St. Joseph and Earlham at 10 a.m. ET and 12 p.m. ET, respectively.

Tickets will need to be purchased online for those attending in person. Information regarding the tournament and tickets can be accessed here

Kim Nelson-Brown is entering her 27th year as the head coach of the program. Nelson-Brown was named CCIW Coach of the Year in 2021, after leading her team to its seventh NCAA postseason appearance. She returns eight letterwinners from last season and ushers in a strong incoming class.

While five Titans received all-conference honors last season, only one, Faith Washko (Springfield, Ill.-Sacred Heart-Griffin), returns for the 2022 campaign. Washko led the team in digs with 329 in 25 matches and added 47 assists and 19 service aces to her impressive sophomore season, helping her earn the team's "Most Improved Player" award.

The Titans will be led by captains Evy Makris (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg), Lily Summers (Plainfield, Ill.-Plainfield North), and Maddie Dryfhout (Orland Park, Ill.-Chicago Christian).
