AUSTIN, Texas -
The final College Sports Information Directors of America All-America teams were released Wednesday, June 15, as the organization unveiled its Academic All-America At-Large squads. Illinois Wesleyan University swimmer Ellen Gilbert (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North) as well as women's golfer Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University) were recognized.

The At-Large Academic All-America teams are comprised of student-athletes competing in beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, men's volleyball, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, and water polo.

IWU was the only school to have multiple student-athletes with perfect 4.00 grade point averages across the men's and women's at-large teams. Furthermore, Illinois Wesleyan was one of nine Division III institutions (MIT, Rowan, Kenyon, Gustavus Adolphus, UW-Whitewater, Middlebury, Scranton, Johns Hopkins) with multiple honorees on the women's side.

Gilbert garnered First Team Academic All-America honors for the second straight season, while she reeled in her third career Academic All-America distinction. Meanwhile, Onsrud made history as IWU's first-ever women's golfer to earn the prestigious honor as a Third Team selection. Illinois Wesleyan, which saw four student-athletes garner Academic All-America accolades throughout the 2021-22 year, has racked up 146 selections all-time.

Wrapping up her outstanding IWU career with an All-American finish at the NCAA Championship, March 18, Gilbert graduated in May with a degree in psychology. The Northbrook, Ill. native put together quite a resume throughout her four years donning the Green and White, including College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Swimming Student Athlete of the Year, CCIW Most Valuable Swimming Student-Athlete, and the CCIW's Elite 25 Award this year. Posting a career-best time of 2:02.00 in the 200 fly, Gilbert finished the year with the ninth-fastest time nationally in the event. At the conference meet, she pulled off wins in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 500 free, while also aiding the Titans to wins in the 400 medley relay, 400 free relay, and 800 free relay to rack up six All-CCIW honors.

Onsrud, a two-time CCIW Golfer of the Week pick, concluded a sensational sophomore season last month. One of six individuals to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championship, Onsrud led the Titans to a final ranking of 14th in the WGCA/Mizuno Coaches Poll. The Normal, Ill. native recorded six top-five finishes during IWU's tough schedule, highlighted by wins at the Dechert Classic, Westbrook Invitational, and the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling. She maintains a 4.00 GPA in health promotions and fitness management.
