Fagan Named Back-To-Back CCIW Golfer of the Week

Sophomore finished second at UW-Whitewater Spring Invite

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team earned her second consecutive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Golfer of the Week honor, announced by the league office Wednesday, April 22. The award is Fagan's third of her career and is the seventh won by a Titan this season, including a complete sweep of the spring season.

Fagan and the Titans battled brutal conditions at the UW-Whitewater Spring Invite to earn a third-place team finish Friday-Saturday, April 17-18. Individually, the sophomore finished second overall. After making it halfway through round one on Friday due to severe weather, competitors returned to the course Saturday to finish the tournament, which was shortened to just 18-holes. Fagan finished her round on Saturday with three birdies to post a one-over 73 in cold and windy conditions. The Kirkwood, Mo. native fell by one stroke to UW-Stout's Julia Imai, who Fagan bested last weekend, April 11-12, at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling for her first career win.

Earning the CCIW's automatic bid with their conference tournament victory in October, the Titans set their sights on the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship. The national tournament is scheduled for Tuesday-Friday, May 19-22, at Desert Willow in Palm Desert, Calif.
