Three Titans Claim Titles on Day Two of CCIW Championships

Huber, Schumacher, and Paraday earn event wins

WHEATON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Outdoor Championships, Saturday, May 7 at McCully Stadium in Wheaton, Ill., on the campus of Wheaton College. The women's team finished in sixth place, with 84.5 points. The men accumulated 60.5  points, good for seventh place. 

North Central College's men's and women's teams won the 2022 CCIW Outdoor Championships with 157 points and 182.5 points, respectively.

Freshman Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) assembled an impressive showing in the heptathlon, earning 4103 points as she finished in first place. Her win was highlighted by first-place finishes in the long jump (4.73 meters) and the 800 meter (2:20.13).

Senior Emma Helferich (Monticello, Ill.-Monticello) leaped her way to a second-place finish in long jump with a distance of 5.25 meters, earning eight points for IWU. Sophomore Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) enjoyed a second-place mark of 5.25 meters in the triple jump.

In the high jump event, freshman Evelyn Wilson (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) soared for a height of 1.55 meters, good for second. 

Freshman Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) secured third place in the 5000 meter race as she crossed the finish line with a time of 18:19.73. 

For the men, senior Cole Paraday (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) bested the javelin throw field with his conference-winning mark of 53.45 meters, earning 10 points for the Green and White. The Frankfort, Ill. native cleared the field by nearly three meters.

Junior Keondre Schumacher (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) blew by the 200 meter field as he claimed the victory as he finished with the CCIW best time of 22.18.

Freshman Luan Ademovski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Elk Grove) notched a distance of 15.20 meters in the shot put competition to fourth, giving the team five points.

Senior Davis Nguy (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) finished the decathlon with 5261 points, good for second place that was highlighted by his first place finish in the pole vault with a distance of 3.70 meters.

The Green and White are set to compete at the North Central College, two-day, last chance meet, Thursday-Friday, May 12-13.
