Carlson Earns CCIW Defensive Player of the Week Honors

First weekly award of her career

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Junior Kelly Carlson (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week Monday, April 18, after leading the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team to a crucial conference win, April 16. It is the first weekly honor of Carlson's career.

Carlson led IWU's defensive effort in a 17-7 victory over North Central, April 16, as the Titans improved to 2-1 in CCIW play. The Western Springs, Ill. native was the team leader in ground balls and tied for the team lead in caused turnovers. Carlson collected a career-high five ground balls and forced a career-best four turnovers, while also adding a draw control.

Illinois Wesleyan continues conference play Wednesday, April 20, with a road game at Elmhurst University. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
