Men’s Tennis Sees Success in Wabash College Hidden Duals

Cross and Sibley-Diggs both go 4-0 on the day

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's tennis team competed in the Wabash College Hidden Duals Saturday, Sept. 25. The Titans went face-to-face with host Wabash College and Hanover College in a tournament style match. 

The Titans saw freshman Zeke Cross (Springfield, Ill.-Springfield) and sophomore Jordan Sibley-Diggs (Oak Park, Ill.-Oak Park River Forest) take wins in all of their matches on the day. 

During singles play, Cross went head-to-head with Wabash's Paul Hargitt to take both sets 6-2 and 6-1 before defeating Hanover's Luke Stonner by scores of 6-1 and 6-3. In doubles play, the freshman paired up with sophomore Evan Turnbull (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) to take on the duo from Wabash. The pairing went on to win 8-3 before Cross took on Hanover with senior Shanku Nair (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community). Cross and Nair beat Hanover's Macedo Pedro and Luke Kroeger, 8-6.

Sibley-Diggs went 2-0 in singles play as well, as he beat Gerald Randle from Wabash and Hanover's Nate Campbell, 6-0, 8-4 and 6-1, 8-4, respectively. During doubles play, the sophomore played with fellow sophomore Joshua Cortez (Chicago, Ill.-Notre Dame College Prep) in both matches to defeat Wabash 8-2 and Hanover 8-5. 

The Titans will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Central Tournament Friday-Sunday, Oct. 1-3 at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich.
