WHEATON, Ill. - Senior
Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way North) won the Gill Dodds Invitational as the Illinois Wesleyan University women's cross country team placed third Saturday, Sept. 18. The men's squad placed 12th.
Harden crossed the finish line in 22:39, to best a field of 187 runners. Seniors Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour) and
Jenna Mirande (Peoria, Ill.-Limestone) also posted top-20 finishes, taking 17th and 18th, respectively. Dorsey clocked in at 23:49, and Mirande at 23:51.
On the men's side, junior J.D. Barrett (Tuscola, Ill.-Tuscola) led the Titans. He finished in 27:25 to take 40th.
Chicago claimed the women's team title with 33 points. Elmhurst placed second with 76, followed by IWU's total of 106.
North Central claimed the team title on the men's side with 22 points as five Cardinals finished in the top-seven individually. Chicago was second with 103 points, and Millikin was third with 107.
Next up for IWU is the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational, Oct. 1. The meet, which is hosted by Augustana College, will be held on Saukie Golf Course.
