BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country squads participated in the Titan/Hawk Invitational Friday, Sept. 10. As co-hosts of the meet, IWU used this as an opportunity for a tune-up as both teams finished in second place.

On the women's side, Heartland Community College was victorious with a total of 17 points. Illinois Wesleyan (39 points), Lincoln College (86 points), and Eureka College (109 points) rounded out the scores for the four schools. 

For the men, Heartland came away with the team win, gathering 20 points. Illinois Wesleyan produced 55 points while Lincoln accumulated 66 points. 

Senior Kayleigh Pitterman (Glenview, Ill.-Glenbrook South), had the top time for the Titans in the 5000m event, clocking a time of 20:22.83, which gave her fourth place. The Green and White also secured the seventh, eighth, and ninth positions. Freshman Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.- Libertyville), had a time of 20:35.02, senior Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymor), wrapped up her race with a clip of 20:35.80, and senior Jenna Mirande (Peoria, Ill.-Limestone), produced a time of 20:36.17.

Sophomore Josh Tong (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North) set the pace for the men's team securing tenth place as he crossed the finish line with a 28:27.05 clip in the 8000m race. Senior Zach Orpilla (North Aurora, Ill.-Marmion Academy) and junior J.D. Barrett (Tuscola, Ill. - Tuscola) had times of 28:56.14 and 28:57.42, respectively.

The men's and women's cross country teams head to Warensville, Ill. for their next race at the Gill Dodds Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.
