Five Event Wins Highlight Titans Impressive Performance at Sycamore Open

Women place fifth, men 10th

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Sophomore Addison Bendery (Chicago, Ill.-Loyola Academy), junior Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way North), senior Zach Anderson (Algonquin, Ill.-Westminster Christian), and the men's 4x100 relay captured wins as the Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams put on a strong showing at the Sycamore Open Saturday, April 24. In the team standings, the women finished fifth, while the men took 10th.

Bendery put up wins in the 100m and 200m dash. In the 100m dash, she crossed the finish line in 12.44. Her 200m dash win came with a time of 25.37. 

Harden claimed first in the 800m run, where she clocked in with a time of 2:16.01. Her time was not only a season-best, but ranks 17th-best in Division III.

Anderson notched a first-place finish in shot put with a season-best mark of 16.95m. His toss also ranks as the sixth-best in the country.

IWU's fifth win of the day came in the 4x100m relay, where Keondre Schumacher (Bloomington, Ill.-University High), Cyrus Clarke (Bronx, N.Y.-Bronx Theater), Dylan Ruskin (Deerfield, Ill.-Deerfield), and Samuel Painter (Litchfield, Ill.-Litchfield) topped Evansville and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville with a time of 42.33. Clarke also added a third-place finish in the 400m dash.

Seniors Kelsey Wyman (Monmouth, Ill.-Monmouth-Roseville) and Cora Wilkinson (Verona, Ill.-Seneca) turned in strong performances in the Women's 400m Hurdles, finishing fourth and fifth-respectively. Wyman crossed the finish line in 1:04.35, with Wilkinson just on her heels at 1:04.72. Wilkinson's time ranks 10th-best in Division III, while Wyman is also in the top-10 with a time from earlier this season.

Junior Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour) secured a runner-up finish in the 5000m run with a time of 18:24.58, while Jenna Mirande (Peoria, Ill.-Limestone) placed fifth.

Senior Ayana Blair (Wheeling, Ill.-Wheeling) posted a pair of top-five finishes in throws. She placed fourth in shot put with a throw of 12.99m, and notched a fifth-place finish in hammer with a toss of 48.49m.

The Titans will make the short trip over to Normal, Ill. Friday-Saturday, April 30-May 1 for the Illinois State Invite.
