NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team was picked to finish second in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Coaches Poll announced on Friday, March 12. The Titans, who received 20 points in the poll, begin a two-game homestand this weekend, March 13-14. IWU, in conjunction with the CCIW, released an update spectator policy earlier this week, which can be found here.

IWU will host UW-River Falls and Transylvania for a pair of non-conference matches this Saturday-Sunday. The Titans will take on River Falls Saturday at 2 p.m. before hosting Transy at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Illinois Wesleyan is 2-1 on the year following a split weekend against 19th-ranked Denison and Wittenberg in Ohio, March 6-7. The Titans bounced back from a 17-9 setback at Denison with a 14-5 triumph over Witt. The weekend saw Janaye Godfrey (Portland, Ore.-Lincoln) and Riley Rooney (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles East) sweep the CCIW weekly awards. Godfrey was awarded the defensive player of the week honors capturing a total of 36 saves over a three-game period, tying her career-high of 15 saves twice. Rooney captured the offensive honors with a total of seven goals and seven assists for IWU's first week of competition.

On top of Godfrey's player of the week accolade, the Portland, Ore. native earned a first in program history being named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Defensive Player of the Week announced on March 9.

This weekend's games will be the Titans first against both UW-River Falls and Transy. Saturday's match will also serve as the Falcons' season opener, while Transylvania travels to IWU with a 1-2 record.

The event will be live streamed here. To read more about IWU's spectator policy click here.

Inside the CCIW Poll
Chicago topped the poll with 25 points and five first-place votes, while North Central (15 - one first-place vote) rounded out the top three behind IWU.

Carthage (13), Carroll (12), and Augustana (5) ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Voting for the CCIW Preseason Women's Lacrosse Poll is done by the head lacrosse coaches at each CCIW institution. Each coach votes for the five other programs in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (five points for first, four for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their own teams.
