CCIW Release

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior Anthony Marre (Bloomingdale, Ill.-Glenbard North) and junior Andrew Stange (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Lake Zurich) were recognized by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Monday, Nov. 1, after outstanding performances in the Illinois Wesleyan University football team's 56-6 thumping of North Park, Oct. 30. Marre was voted the CCIW's Offensive Player of the Week, while Stange was selected as the league's Special Teams Player of the Week. It is the first weekly CCIW award in Marre's career, while its Stanges second this season.

Marre led an Illinois Wesleyan rushing attack that motored for 429 yards, the most by the Titans since rushing for 447 against Lakeland, Sept. 29, 1965. Marre headlined the run game with 243 yards on 16 carries, both of which were career-highs. His rushing total marked the third-highest in program history and the most since Deon Hornsby tallied 244 Sept. 14, 1996. The Bloomingdale, Ill. native rushed for three scores, including a 91-yard scamper, while he also added five catches for 72 yards.

Overall, he finished with 315 yards of total offense, the third-most in IWU history. Nationally, his 243 rushing yards are the 10th-most in all of Division III this season.

Stange was strong on the special teams front, where he handled kicking duties. In addition to going a perfect 8-for-8 in point after attempts, which tied the school record, he also kicked off nine times. He averaged 62.7 yards per kick, with three touchbacks.

Illinois Wesleyan hits the road for the final time this weekend, Nov. 6, when the Titans travel to No. 6 Wheaton College for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
