NAPERVILLE, Ill. -
Following the Illinois Wesleyan University football team's 52-3 rout of Elmhurst University, Oct. 2, junior kicker Andrew Stange (Lake Zurich, Ill.-Lake Zurich) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Special Team Player of the Week Monday, Oct. 4. It is the first weekly award of his career and the first time an IWU player has earned the honor since Dean Zigulich did so Oct. 6, 2019.

Stange was impressive for the Titans in their Homecoming victory, as he converted a 44-yard field goal. His 44-yarder was the longest by a Titan since he hit a 46-yarder at Carthage Oct. 12, 2019. It was also the longest field goal made by a CCIW player this season. With the kick, Stange became the second player in Illinois Wesleyan history to convert multiple 40+ yard kicks, joining Dave Pearce who accomplished the feat with field goals of 48 (Nov. 10, 1979) and 44 (Nov. 14, 1981 and Oct. 27, 1979) yards.

Additionally, Stange went 7-for-7 in PATs. He also helped IWU control field position in the kickoff game, where he recorded five touchbacks on eight kickoffs.

Illinois Wesleyan returns to the road this weekend, Oct. 9, with a trip to St. Louis, Mo. to take on Washington University in St. Louis. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
