D3football.com Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Seniors Zack Tencza (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) and Skyler Metzger (Northbrook, Ill.-Glenbrook North) of the Illinois Wesleyan University football team were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week Tuesday, Oct. 12, following their performances in IWU's Oct. 9 game at WashU. The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 23rd season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week.

With the selections of Tencza and Metzger, it is just the second time in program history that IWU has had multiple players earn the honor in the same week. Mike Murphy and the Illinois Wesleyan offensive line previously accomplished the feat in week 10 of the 2021 spring season. Additionally, Tencza is just the second all-time honoree on the offensive side of the ball for the Green and White, joining last season's offensive line. Meanwhile, Metzger is the first IWU linebacker to earn the accolade.

Tencza, who was the lone tight end recognized, put together a career day for the Titans, Oct. 9. He hauled in a career-high eight catches en route to his first career 100-yard game. He finished the day with 113 receiving yards, including a seven-yard TD catch.

Metzger tied for the team lead with 10 tackles, including a career-high four tackles for loss. He also added a seven-yard sack for an IWU squad that leads the CCIW in QB takedowns. Additionally, nine of his 10 tackles were solo stops.

Illinois Wesleyan is back in action at home this weekend, Oct. 16, as the Titans host Millikin University for a 1 p.m. kick at Tucci Stadium.
