Triantafel and Burk Complete Play at ITA's Regional Tournament

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Senior Demetrios Triantafel (Indian Head Park, Ill.- Lagrange Lyons) advanced to the second day of the Division III Men's Central Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships with a win in the 32 round consolation Friday, Oct. 1 before falling in the bracket on day two Saturday, Oct. 2.

Triantafel moved on to the consultation 16-draw bracket after beating out Capital University's Spencer Surles 6-0 in both sets. With the win Triantafel got a bye through to the next round where he dueled with Andres Sanchez from Greenville University at 11:30 a.m. Triantafel pushed his match into three sets but was edged by Sanchez with scores of 3-6, 6-3, and 10-7 to end his tournament run.

Junior Carter Burk (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal U High) also competed in the double-elimination tournament. The Bloomington, Ill. native dropped both games in singles play. Burk fell to Hope College's Tyler Stafford 6-2 and 6-4 to end his tournament showing.
