ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational Friday, Oct. 1. The men's team captured 14th place out of the 24 schools that competed. The women's squad placed fourth out of the 21 teams that competed.
On the men's side, No. 13 University of Chicago won the event with 38 points, No. 21 Loras College captured second place with 78 points, and Central College rounded out the top three with 106 points.Â
For the women, No. 3 University of Chicago got first place with 22 points, No. 35 Loras College grabbed second place with 79 points, Central College hauled in 135 to grab third place.
Out of a total 297 female runners, senior Rebehah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill. - Lincoln-Way North) ran the best time for the Green and White. Harden ran an impressive 22:22.60 clip to secure fifth place. Senior Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill. - Mahomet-Seymour) finished just out of the top-10 with her 12th place finish as she crossed the finish line with a time of 22:46.70. Senior Jenna Mirande (Peoria, Ill. - Limestone) produced a time of 23:46.10, which gave her 35th place.Â
For the men, 340 runners participated in this invitational. Sophomore Noah Smith (El Paso, Ill. - El Paso-Gridley) produced the best time for the Titans as he finished the 8K race with a clip of 27:01.20
The men's and women's cross country teams will head to Peoria, Ill. to participate in the Bradley Invite Friday, Oct. 15. The event will be held at Newman Golf Course.Â
